4020 - Procedure for Deficiency Notices to Parents

1. Procedure:
1.1. In an effort to obtain parental support in motivating students who may be failing in a class, teachers are to contact parents (either by personal contact, telephone or written communication) and apprise them of the situation and the efforts required from their student to get a passing grade.
1.2. This teacher contact with parents must be made early enough in the quarter so the student has time to succeed if the required effort is put forth.
1.3. Teachers are to keep a record of their contact with the parents.
1.4. Teachers are also encouraged to communicate with parents about the positive things students are doing whenever possible.
